Becca Himes (She/They)

Hello Families,

My name is Becca Himes, and I’ve been part of the Athena community since November 2021. Working with children has always been a passion of mine—from babysitting and being a summer camp counselor to volunteering as a teacher’s helper at my hometown ballet studio.

I grew up in Southern California and later moved to Chicago for college, where I studied film. Eventually, my heart led me to Early Childhood Education, and it was during that time that I discovered the Montessori method. I was immediately drawn to its emphasis on respect, independence, and holistic development. I began my Montessori journey as an Assistant Guide in a Toddler classroom, where I was able to observe and learn the foundational principles in action.

In 2021, I made the big move from Chicago to Austin. As soon as I found Athena, I knew it was a special place. I continue to be inspired every day by our team’s dedication, warmth, and love for the work we do.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, playing video games, and spending time with friends. I also love exploring Austin, hiking in nature, and traveling to new and exciting places.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Athena community and am grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow alongside your children each day.
