Kaidan Burns (They/Them)

Floater
Hi, my name is Kaidan!

I am so excited to be joining the Athena Montessori team. I have been working in Montessori schools for the last five years in positions across the board, including Administrative Assistant, Primary Classroom Assistant, Afternoon Assistant and now Floater. I moved to Austin in 2021 from the Chicago suburbs a year after graduating from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising. I started my Montessori journey simply looking to gain administrative experience and instantly fell in love with working with young children and the philosophy, so I decided to step into roles that allowed me to be hands-on in their education, development and growth. My favorite part of working with this age group is their sheer curiosity. I love seeing how they absorb information and learn how to apply it, whether it is academically, emotionally, physically or socially. Playing a role in the development of young minds has become a passion of mine I didn’t expect, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to do so. It is so important to me to lead through example and foster an environment where they can thrive and become the best versions of themselves ready to walk through the world with confidence, kindness, courtesy, respect, grace, creativity and curiosity.

My life outside of the classroom is never a dull moment. I love to stay busy and find my next adventure or hobby. I have been pursuing art most of my life, but more seriously/professionally in the last six years, through illustration, painting, diy projects/crafting, performance art, etc. Most people quickly learn that I am a lover of all things pink! I also enjoy vegan cooking, being active, and spending time with my partner and friends. I love going to restaurants, coffee shops, community events, live shows, botanical gardens, local vendor markets, art shows/galleries/museums and more!

I already feel incredibly welcomed by your children and families, and am very thankful to be a part of the Athena community. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year!

Cheers,
Kaidan Burns (they/them)

Athena Montessori Academy

Athena is a place to grow as a child, a parent, and a family. We attended for four years for both of our kids, and in a way, the environment truly is infused with magic. But in practice, that magic looks like exceptional educational grounding, deep emotional support, and a staff fully committed to preparing your child—and you—for the next phase of the journey.
