Kristen Moreno (She/Her)

Howdy, Athena Community!

My name is Kristen and I am originally from Tucson, Arizona. Inspired by hill country swim holes, live music, and two-stepping, I made the move to Austin in 2016 where I met my husband and the rest is history! While I am very loyal to the beautiful Sonoran Desert I grew up in, I am grateful to call Texas my other home. 

I’ve had the pleasure of working with children since 2016 and discovered the Montessori method in 2020 when I began working at Mariposa Montessori School as a toddler assistant guide. After a few years in the toddler community, my curiosity and passion led me to the Nido/infant community where I spent three years as a lead guide. Working closely with children in an authentic Montessori environment completely transformed my life and inspired me to pursue my Montessori birth-three teacher training. I earned my Infant/Toddler credential through the Center for Guided Montessori Studies in the summer of 2024. After having my sights set on Athena for some time, I finally made the leap and applied last summer. I joined the Athena Community in August of 2025. I look forward to many years ahead of growing and learning as part of this wonderful and supportive community. 

Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time outdoors, at home with my kitty Pumpkin, or going out two-stepping with my husband Jaime. I am also overjoyed to be welcoming my first child this coming September 2026!
