Mask Policy Update

Dear Athena Families,

It has been such a joy to welcome your children back to campus after Spring Break!

We are writing today with an update on our mask policy.

Thank you to those families who have shared their vaccination status with us. Given the data we have collected from that survey, along with the recommendations just released for childcare programs by Austin Public Health, we are announcing our decision that masks will be optional on the Athena campus, both indoors and outdoors, for all children and adults, beginning Monday, April 7, two full weeks following our return from Spring Break travel and the end of SXSW.

We recommend you consider the American Academy of Pediatrics new masking recommendations when making masking decisions for your family. We are committed to supporting individual staff and family decisions to mask, and our guides will continue to model and teach respect for individual choices regarding masking. If you would like for your child to continue masking while at Athena, indoors or outdoors, please complete this form to let us know.

We are grateful to be in community with people who place such a high level of importance on taking care of one another. It is this commitment that has allowed us to get to this point. We hope you all enjoy the sunshine with your families this weekend!

Warmly,
The Athena Leadership Team
