Ryann Flanagan (She/Her)

Hello Athena Families,

 

I am excited to begin my ninth year at Athena, second full school year as Lead Guide, and first year in Primary 3! This will be my 16th year working with preschool-aged children and I am filled with gratitude to exist in such an incredible community. 

 

I am a mother to a magical little girl, Phoebe. She has given new meaning to my life and I am having such a wonderful time watching her grow. She will be moving from Athena’s Movers and Shakers class to the Tots program, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to watch her grow at this beautiful school. 

 

I grew up in San Antonio, where I attended Alamo Community College. Though I initially majored in Accounting, I was hired at a preschool and fell in love with education. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2016.

 

Making an impact on children makes my heart happy. To say that I’m a fan of Maria Montessori’s method would be a huge understatement. I dream to make the world a better place by facilitating a space for children to learn and grow. Children have all of the magic and wisdom inside, and I feel called to help guide them on their journeys. 

 

In my free time I enjoy being with my sweet Phoebe–cuddling, dancing, playing, laughing, just being! I also enjoy creating greeting cards, painting, gardening, yoga, reading, spending time in nature, and watching basketball! I love living in Austin and plan to be here for decades.

 

I look forward to working with your children and learning and growing as their Guide this school year.
