I am so excited to be part of the Athena family! As someone with a passion for children, education, and business, joining Athena’s administrative team in the Human Resources and Registrar capacity is an incredible opportunity I do not take for granted.
I grew up in a small town in North Dakota and received my B.A. in Communication from the University of North Dakota. After graduation, I moved to Minneapolis, MN, to begin an internship at Special Olympics Minnesota. I absolutely loved working with so many unique and wonderful children, families, and education professionals. A few months later I accepted a position as Business Operations Coordinator at a startup nonprofit focused on raising money for cancer research through a cycling event. I dove head first into business and event management alongside a small but very mighty team, gaining invaluable experience while having a lot of fun in a rewarding role. Then, after 20+ years of Midwestern winters, I decided it was time for a change of scenery. I fell in love with Austin the first time I visited, and the feeling has only gotten stronger now that I call it home.
I’ve had a similar experience with Athena. From my first phone call with Lisl, I knew this was a special place and a community I wanted to be part of. I have seen firsthand how important it is for a child to feel cared for, capable, and heard–both with learning and life in general. This space and its people prioritize that, and I feel fortunate to support the Montessori mission every day.
When not at work, you can find me cooking, baking, exploring the city with friends, enjoying live music, or Facetiming my nieces and nephews. I look forward to getting to know all of you!
