Hello! My name is Holly Earnest. I’ve been part of the Athena community since October 2009. Since arriving at Athena, I’ve served in a variety of roles on campus, first as a substitute, then as office and nap support, and most recently as an After School Guide. Beginning this summer, I’ll be moving into the classroom, working as an Assistant Guide in Primary 1. I am honored to be taking these next steps on my journey in the company of Athena’s wonderfully loving and supportive community.
I’m an Austin transplant and have fallen in love with this city. My husband Rich and I were married in September 2009 and hit the road a few weeks later, Austin-bound. We both grew up in Orlando, and while it was hard to leave our families behind, we’d heard nothing but good things about this city and were up for an adventure. My fortuitous discovery of Athena Montessori just before moving made me all the more hopeful. I came on board as a substitute at Athena almost immediately after moving to Austin (even before we’d officially moved in!) and have been delighted to be part of Lisl’s team ever since.
I graduated from the University of Central Florida (go Knights!) in May 2009 with my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing my studies on health and the humanities and completing a minor in sociology - a true liberal education. My background is in work with adolescents (I especially love those squirrelly middle schoolers) but my passion lies in helping students of all ages grow up to be healthy, whole, vibrant individuals. My work at Athena has provided me with my first exposure to Montessori - I am at once grateful and thrilled to have the honor of gaining experience with the littlest students in such a beautiful and compassionate environment.
I’ve come to know many of you and your sweet children at Athena and look forward to the year to come!
