I graduated from Texas State University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies (early childhood through 4th grade). I received my state certification and planned to teach in a traditional elementary school, until just by chance I observed a Montessori classroom for the first time. My curiosity was sparked and I decided to consider this as a career option. I accepted a position at Lake Hills Montessori as an assistant guide in a primary classroom. My love for the Montessori philosophy blossomed during my two years there and I knew I had found my calling. I began the American Montessori Society certification process at the Houston Montessori Center last May and have completed my internship over the next nine months at Athena. My training experience has been an absolute joy and I have learned more than I could have imagined from the children and amazing teachers I have worked with this year.

From as far back as I can remember I wanted to be a teacher. Children have always been an important part of my life. I was two when my baby sister Allison came along and I can still remember the awe and wonder I felt watching her grow. I have carried that feeling with me as I have worked with children through the years. When I'm not with the children, you can find me outdoors. I practice yoga and my favorite spot for running is around Town Lake (or Ladybird Lake). I take advantage of these hot days swimming around at The Springs and like to go camping when the weather starts getting a little cooler. I really enjoy Austin for the friendly culture, live music, and my friends and family who live here.

I am committed to serving and supporting your children in every way possible. I will be growing and learning along with them and am looking forward to a great summer!

Warmly,
Brittany
